Hello everyone a few updates –
Codebusters – please have students try to log in today and make sure they can see (and solve) in the practice test. There is a large blue box the says “North Carolina Division A & B Regional”. they need to click that link to see their test.
Describe It, Build It- We finalized plans for this yesterday. Your teammates will join the Zoom link I send you tomorrow. We will then put them in their own breakout room with event volunteers. The describer will keep their camera on, the builder will keep their camera off. The event leader will share the link for the picture to JUST the Describer. The time will start and the kids can talk back and forth to each other for 25 minutes to complete the model. Then the builder or their parents need to take a picture of their model and email it to ncscienceolympiad@ncsu.edu within 10 minutes of the build being done.
Weather –
I know that many of us are bracing for a loss of power or, gasp – more importantly – the internet this afternoon. Hoping it doesn’t happen, but if is does and is widespread:
1. If one or 2 of your team cannot access tests on Saturday because of weather damage, we can set up a makeup time for them next Tuesday.
2. If a large number of your team members cannot get online Saturday morning, you can choose not to participate and move to the April 17 tournament.
Keep us posted as we see what Mother Nature throws our way this afternoon!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for those of you who have had time to fill out the Google form for Codebusters. If your students are planning to compete in this event and you didn’t give us emails, please do that now here: https://forms.gle/ kbsDZo28boPvESwQ9
Wednesday – Friday, students should try logging in with the email address you provided and work on the test with their partners. Please have them do this sooner rather than later. If they can’t get in, we can fix it now, but not on Saturday.
Directions:
Go to toebes.com.codebusters
Click “Take a test”
Click “login”
Students should see a practice test that they can work on.
If not, let us know!
KIM
Lots of information for you here with some quick deadlines for the upcoming tournament.
Everyone on your team must have a Consent Form on file before Saturday. Here is the link to send your team: https://forms.gle/cLCTKUVir6A9NLB2A
Avogadro – you need to enter your student roster into Avogadro before Saturday. The link is: https://app.avogadro.ws. It can be a little glitchy based on your cache settings, if you get the black screen of death that says the page can’t load, click in the url bar and hit enter, it will load. If you do not know your avogadro user name (for almost everyone it is First Name Last Name), just ask and we’ll help. I have attached Avogadro Help Guide 2020 for anyone who needs help – REMINDER – when you enter new students, we just need their name, none of the other info has to be filled in to add them to the team.
If your students are participating in Codebusters, we need Google or Office 365-based emails that they can log in to on tournament day. These can be parent emails, we only use them as the identifier to log in, but they have to be unique for each student. Please fill out this form asap, we will set up a practice test for them on Wed & Thurs.
Here is your schedule for Saturday. We will continue to update this with the Nearpod Codes and links needed for the day. Please have this open on tournament day to watch for any last minute changes, you are welcome to share with students.
Describe It, Build It – this will be a trial event – medals will be awarded, but it will not count towards the team trophy, so it is optional. Here is the list of supplies that your BUILDER needs – the Describer does not need supplies.
Coach Check in – in a normal year, you would come to our folding table in a lobby and turn in paperwork. We still want to do that this week to check your consent forms against your roster. Coach checkin will be Wed, March 17 from 4-6pm – please join this Zoom link (https://ncsu.zoom.us/j/4841549786) when it is convenient to you, it should take about 15 min to get you checked in. If you can’t make it during this time, let me know when you do have time, we are flexible and will meet when your schedule allows!
