The 2026 NCSO Social Media Challenges are here!

The 2026 NC Science Olympiad Social Media Challenges are kicking off this November — a fun and creative way for teams to prepare for competition season, show off their science spirit, and win prizes along the way!

From November through January, teams can take on weekly themed challenges that blend STEM skills, creativity, and teamwork. Each challenge is designed to spark curiosity and help students practice for upcoming events — all while having fun!

🧪 Challenge Schedule

Nov 10–16: Decorate Your Binder (A/B/C) — Show off your creativity by decorating your event binder.
Nov 17–23: The Adaptables (A) — Design an animal for a specific habitat or create a habitat that perfectly fits an animal.
Nov 24–30: Astronomy (B/C) — Illustrate the cycle of formation for your favorite star.
Dec 1–7: Dino Nuggets (A) — Research your favorite dinosaur and draw your best interpretation based on its skeleton.
Dec 8–14: Entomology (B/C) — Identify and document bugs found in your own backyard.
Dec 15–21: Build Events (A/B/C) — Create a trophy using leftover materials from your build event supplies.
Dec 22–28: Holiday Break — No challenge this week. Enjoy your break!
Dec 29–Jan 4: Codebusters (A/B/C) — Code “NC Sci Oly” in the most creative way possible.
Jan 5–11: Weather Permitting & Meteorology (A/B/C) — Create a news report on your favorite weather system.
Jan 12–18: Coastal Countdown & Dynamic Planet (A/B/C) — Imagine you’re an ocean expert searching for the lost city of Atlantis. Create a treasure map based on your knowledge of ocean cycles.
Jan 19–25: Shirt Contest (A/B/C) — Show off your team spirit with the best team shirt design!
